Message from University 8 January 24

We know that 2024 presents some challenges for international students outside of their control. Increased living costs and exchange rate issues have made studying abroad much harder. We want to make our University more accessible so I have some exciting news about our fees and scholarships.

September 2024 and January 2025 fees:

    1. All International Tuition Fees are now frozen at the 2023/24 levels and will not increase for 2024/2025. Course fees range from £16,200 to £19,200 and can be viewed on our website course web pages.
    2. Fees for our most popular Masters courses have been realigned to the fee level for the courses in that faculty so that there is a consistent fee level for all students in that faculty

    • MSc Business Management - now £17,900
    • MSc International Business Management - now £17,900
    • MSc Project Management - now £17,900
    • MSc Financial Technology - now £17,900
    • MSc Biotechnology - now £19,200
These fees will be shown on our website in February.

    3. Our full-time on-campus One-Year Bachelors Top-Up Courses fees have been realigned to £16,200. The courses they apply to are as follows:

    • BA (Hons) International Trade And Business Communication
    • BA (Hons) International Business Communication (Top Up)
    • BA (Hons) International Trade And Business Communication (Top Up)
    • BA (Hons) International Business Communication
    • BA (Hons) International Trade, Logistics And Business Communication (Top-Up)
    • BA (Hons) Finance With Business Communication (Top-Up)
    • BA (Hons) Business With Business Communication (Top-Up)

    Instalments

From September 2024, students can pay their tuition fees in full or in instalments. Any tuition fee payments made in advance, such as the deposit, will be deducted from their tuition fees.

Students can now choose one of the following options:

Option A -  Two instalments: 50% of the tuition fee is paid during registration, and the second 50% is paid at the start of the second term

Option B - Three instalments: 50% of their tuition fee during registration. The remaining 50% is to be paid in three equal instalments every two months after that.

Option C -   Six instalments: 50% of their tuition fee during registration. The remaining 50% is to be paid in six equal instalments every month after that.

These instalments will be applicable for each year of their course. More information including payment dates can be found on at Tuition Fees for International Studentswebpage.

    Refundable Deposits

With the potential risk of the MAC review and its effect on the Graduate Immigration Route (GIR), we appreciate students are nervous about committing to paying their deposits.

We are pleased to let you know that Tuition Fee deposits of 1000 GBP are now refundable for the 2024/25 academic year provided the GIR is withdrawn before the start of their programme. The refund request must be made within 30 calendar days after the UK government's announcement (expected 14 May 2024) and the student must not have started any element of the course.

We are in the process of amending our fees policy to reflect this.

    September 2024 Scholarships:

In line with the above, we have also revised our scholarship offering to be able to offer a more affordable course fee level for students who qualify for the scholarships.

    1. Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship increased from £3,000 to £5,000

    2. Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship increased from a £1,600 automatic fee reduction to £2,500.

Please note, that the above applies to courses delivered on the Portsmouth campus only and is applicable for self-funded, international fee-paying students

By the end of January, we will be sending all existing 2024/25 offer holders an updated Offer Letter showing their new fees.

    New courses

We have some exciting new courses being launched this year and an announcement will be due out by the end of this month. So do keep an eye out for these courses which we believe will appeal to your students.

We hope these improved fees and scholarships will help you grow your business and meet your recruitment goals this year. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact your University of Portsmouth regional recruitment team here or email us at global@port.ac.uk

    Kind regards

    Janie Kingsley
