We would like to inform you of some important changes to the entry requirements of our undergraduate Medicine MBBS for September 2023 entry onwards. The changes to existing entry requirements from September 2023 onwards are: 1. University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) UCAT will be an entry requirement and must be taken the summer prior to applying. More details about how we will use UCAT in our interview selection process will be available to view on our website shortly. Please visit the UCAT website for more information on the test, including test dates. 2. International Baccalaureate (IB) The minimum IB entry score has been raised from 33 points to 36 points inclusive of Extended Essay & Theory of knowledge. Higher Level 6 in either Chemistry or Biology and Higher Level 5 or higher in a second science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Mathematics. 3. GCSE Mathematics or equivalent The minimum Mathematics requirement has been raised from C/4 to B/5. 4. Foundation qualifications Foundation qualifications from external providers will not be accepted. Students sitting A-levels or IB from foundation colleges will be accepted under the same terms as other MBBS applicants. 5. Academic references The previous requirement has been for applicants to submit one satisfactory academic reference. This still stands but with the additional requirement that the academic or teacher must have had a close professional relationship with the student for a period greater than six months. For candidates who obtain a reference through their school's tutor or counsellor who may not know the candidate personally, the expectation is that the reference takes input from teachers who have known the candidate for a period greater than six months. For detailed information about our admissions process please see our FAQ Admissions document. Please note that our September 2023 entry requirements will be published early in the new year. If you have any specific questions relating to the above changes please email our Medicine Admissions team.
